Should I be more embarrassed?

📢 Watch me get roasted. More details below ↓

Hey Reader!

Some things age well — like my 19-year friendship with my bestie Jenna.

And some age so slowly you don't notice until you wake up one day — like this past August 1, when my business turned 8 — and realize you're not showing up online the way you feel inside. 😬

For me, that meant my welcome sequence. And my email template. And the long list of things I just know are missing. It irks me so much.

For you, it might mean dozens of new recipes you’ve created that have no emails promoting them. Or favorite affiliate programs you’re part of. Or products (meal plans or cookbooks) that you’ve created. Yet they’re nowhere to be found in your automations.

So you may be thinking —

“Allea, you clearly know things about email. You have a whole gosh-darn podcast and business about it. How did YOUR welcome sequence end up outdated?”

Ha! Well, I could be embarrassed, or I could say out loud what we all know is true:

Even experts need experts.

And time to think.

And a dedicated process to talk through things and make decisions.

So yes, I hired my team to roast my old 2019 (ahem, current) welcome sequence.

The same team who audits and gives feedback to our clients. The same team I hired and trained myself over the last few years.

I’ll be sharing all the details on Wednesday in a free workshop.

I’ve been teaching email marketing for years — pointing out fixes and strategies to hundreds of people — and now those three fingers are pointing back at me.

And I’m HAPPY about it.

If you've ever thought, “I literally know this, why haven't I fixed my own?”

— same.

I can’t tell you how long I’ve wanted to dig into my own audit, update things, and answer some of my own pesky questions (like, “Should I be segmenting by beginners vs. advanced email users?”).

And this audit from my team was my time to do that!

I had a couple someones on my team (thanks Sydney and Keriann!) to walk me through a deep audit of my messaging and the “Duett Way” of doing things.

They dug into the details, like we do in every Email Strategy Playbook for clients, including:

  • Taking a hard look at my technical setup (to make sure nothing’s broken)
  • Giving notes on what my Welcome Sequence might be missing
  • Getting clear on my goals for my email list
  • Suggesting ideas for new lead magnets
  • Contributing feedback about my ideas for segmentation

They also made sure every step got done (a huge feat when you’re the business owner!), that my questions got answered, while serving as my sounding boards through the process.

Gold stars to them ⭐⭐

And the results looked like this:

I could NOT have been happier to chat through the details with my team.

And this Wednesday, I’ll share their 3 biggest findings for me

— including what I’ll change, and what I might not.

Email is the marketing channel we own and have the most control over — so if yours has also been collecting dust or isn’t measuring up to its glory days, join me:

My Team Roasted Me (with Love):

Learn from My Email Mistakes & Refresh Your Strategy in 3 Steps

Time for a refresh! Come see what I’d fix in my old welcome sequence strategy.

In 2019, I'd built a welcome sequence that served its purpose… until it didn't. My business has shifted since, and now it feels stale. My team dug into my email setup (like we do for clients). Come see what I'd change, and what you might need to update too.

Join me to —

  • Spot where you’ve outgrown your old welcome sequence and what needs changed
  • Catch (and fix) the subscriber mismatch that's snuck up on you so you can attract the right people
  • Quit hiding your best work. Give new subscribers the best picture of you
  • Refresh your emails without shame over what you “should’ve done sooner”
  • Decide if segmenting your list is for you (or more work than it’s worth)
  • Invest one hour into the marketing channel you can actually control

Hey Reader! I’m a generally reflective person… but I’m also a very practical get-down-to-business kind of person, and often that takes the driver’s seat. But I got back from a trip to Europe this summer right around the day Duett turned 8 years old. My 2018, pre-pandemic baby… going into 3rd grade soon. 😂 That got me thinking about how much has changed for me in all that time. My business has been taking some turns (the good kind) this year, and I’ve simply been adding them to the list of...
