Hey Reader! This solo podcast is all about segmentation. Segmenting your email list may sound really "techie”... and, well, it is. 😂 It may not be easy to understand, but I make it my goal to break down complex “techie” things into something that makes sense. At the start of 2026, I led a workshop on segmentation at Tastemaker (a lovely in-person conference, with even lovelier people!) – and it was everything I hoped for:
Once you understand how it works, segmentation allows you to organize your subscribers based on HOW often they want to hear from you and/or WHAT they want to hear from you. By segmenting your email list, you're creating a happier environment for your subscribers to thrive in — giving them the content they want and excluding the content that they don't want. Not only does this make you look like a really compassionate creator, it will also benefit you with higher engagement (open and click rates), because people getting your emails are the people who want to get those emails. What is it? It’s a “Save this Recipe” form that you add to every blog post. It looks like this: Example from Eating Bird Food You can even use this strategy for non-food blogs, of course, like a “Save this Post” form instead. If you’re interested, it’s worth trying out...
Hey Reader! Amy Reid of Baking with Granny was on the Happy Subscribers podcast in January! I got to meet Amy in-person at the Tastemaker Conference in January! Not only is Amy a GEM of a person, she’s cracked the reader-relationship code with her subscribers and was able to get more than 300+ pre-order sales of her cookbook within 24 hours of emailing her list. It worked all because she’s been nurturing her list long before she asked for the sale (what she calls “the plea” 😂). You don’t want...
